HISTORY:

The Reformed Presbyterian Church of North East India (herein after referred to as RPC, NEI) came into existence as a missionary church and a non-profit charitable organization on the 8th of April 1979. Its headquarters at Churachandpur,Manipur,India

 

RPCNEI is the first Reformed denomination existing in the North Eastern States of India. Now the Church is an association of 104 local churches with more than 14,038 members in North East India in Manipur, Assam, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya and the neighbouring country of Myanmar, which is organized in five Presbyteries and four Mission fields.

 

From its inception in 1979 until 1995, RPCNEI was associated with the Saharanpur Presbytery and Delhi Bible Presbyterian church in north India. In 1996 it became an independent Synod.

 

The RPCNEI is a founding member of the Reformed and Presbyterian Fellowship (RPF) and a member of Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI) at National Level and  the International level  member of International Council of Reformed Churches (ICRC) Beside these,RPCNEI is a member of Micah Network International and North East India Council of Churches(NEICC) at its headquartered at Shillong,Meghalaya.Also, RPCNEI is working in partnership with Compassion East India in the field of child development in Tripura.

 

RPCNEI exist as an organisation since 1979, and began her outreach to society in 1980 amongst the 18 tribes in North-eastern India, drawn from different background who are living in deplorable conditions in the 4 North Eastern States as mentioned above.

 

She has since then a long track record of the following initiative:

 

  1. Out reached works among the Meiteis in Manipur; Karbis ,Bengalis and Kacharies in Assam and Tripuri tribals in Tripura in different capacities.
  2.  Capacity building among her members in different local churches.
  3. Integrated Community Child Care program 
  4. Micro-enterprises Development- productive and commercial income generating activities.
  5. Intensive agriculture training on “Sustainable Agricultural Land Technology” (integrated with environment, WATSAN and community Health Program) with the upland farmers,
  6. Relief & Rehabilitation and Livelihood Program (during ethnic clashes in N.C Hills and Bamboo famine in Tipaimukh,and  Manipur  Flood Relief, Fire outburst in Tripura in 2010/2011, Drought etc. 
  7. Basic Education Rebuilding program as a follow-up program of Relief and Rehabilitation
  8. Vocational Training Program for Youth and school dropped-out
  9. HIV/AIDS – Prevention, Care & Support
  10. Covid -19  Relief and Post Covid Response Program
